My teaching practice will take place in the Robert Shitima School. This school is funded by Zamcog, a British organisation. It is located in Kabwe, Zambia. Their target group is high-risk children. Most of the children live in Makalulu, a nearby slum. There are also some children who live in Shitima School. So, besides a school it’s also an orphanage for boys and girls. In total, there are 446 students at Shitima School, from who 96 are in the residential programme. Shitima School is a Primary and a Secondary School. The headmaster’s name is Mr. Sylvester Chewe. I will be teaching in the Secondary section. Before lunch they have actual classes and after lunch there are other activities. I’m teaching English in the 10th grade and history in the 8th grade. On Tuesday in the afternoon I participate in clubs. I co-founded a club with another teacher, the Anti-drugs club. The aim of this club is to inform students about drug use and to point out the dangers.
