Hello, everyone! First of all welcome to my blog ;) My name is Lotte Pauwels and I’m a student at PXL Education in Hasselt. I’m 25 years old and I live with my father in Hasselt. A few years ago I decided to turn my life upside down and I started teacher training secondary eductation at PXL. Although it has been tough, I haven’t regretted it ever since. I’ve learned many new things and developed a greater interest in history, literature and everything I find extraordinary in this world. My two subjects therefore are history and English, which I enjoy very much. In my second year I was asked whether I would like to do my teaching practice abroad next year. I was highly enthusiastic about this so I got to work. I’ve had a lot of work preparing for it but the time has finally come for my departure!
The main reason I’ve chosen to go on this trip is to explore different cultures, unknown lands and behaviours. I also feel like I’m, although I’m aware I’m blessed to live in Belgium, in a hectic and stress consumed country. I would like to discover another way of living. I look forward to teaching my subjects in Zambia under different circumstances and with an equal, possibly higher, amount of satisfaction. Something that really struck me when I contacted people in Zambia was their informality and kindness. My accommodation sent me a confirmation which contained this sentence in capital letters ‘ WE’RE YOUR NEW HOME IN KABWE, WELCOME!!’ It really filled me with joy. This was my first contact with this man, this is something that doesn’t happen in Belgium. But anyway I’m dawdling, I hope you’ll tune in regularly and follow my adventures ;)
Greetings!
